Irrigation System Checks: Reset controller to manual setting, then water your landscape only as needed. Try one time/week 10-12 minutes for beds and 15 minutes for lawn. Call your irrigation company for care instructions of system before hard freezes.
Water your landscape beds and potted plants before a predicted freeze to insulate their root systems and leaves. Plants with a northern exposure, or breezy location may require more protection than those on the south side of a building. Even hardy plants may need a little coverage to prevent winter leaf burn. Be sure to remove plant covers in the morning since temperatures quickly swing the other way in Houston!
