Nancy Kubnick 

Nancy began her interest in gardening and landscape design, just as many people do, with the purchase of a new home in need of a landscape.  She graduated from Stephens College with a B. A. in Biology and Psychology, but it was Nancy’s love of nature and inherent eye for effective design that led her to the Art Institute of Houston. 

Nancy completed an Associate Degree in the Landscape Design Program taught by local Landscape Architects and Horticulturalists at the Art Institute of Houston.  Naturally, she graduated “first in her class”.  Soon after, she and her husband were relocated to northern Delaware.

While in Delaware, Nancy secured a position as Assistant Curator of Landscape at the world-renowned Winterthur Museum and Gardens, the home of Henry Francis DuPont.
Renovation of the 60-acre garden had begun at the time she was hired.  For four years, she acted as Project Manager on the renovation of more than 5 garden areas, as well as new garden development.  Nancy created the Visitor’s Garden Map and was the Design Advisor to the Winterthur Garden Department.

When Nancy returned to Houston, she turned a part-time endeavor into the position of Store Manager of Buchanan’s Native Plants in the Houston Heights area, which she held for 6 years.  This reflects Nancy’s capabilities of strong business organizational skills and horticultural knowledge. 

Nancy’s experience in landscape design and organic plant management are a perfect match for Home & Habitat.  In January 2007, she joined the Home & Habitat team as Landscape Service Coordinator.  Nancy effectively handles our Annual Maintenance Service Contract properties and provides the new installation follow-up visits. 

Nancy is a perfectionist when it comes to plants.  She skillfully directed the maintenance of all four of Home & Habitat’s 2007 award-winning landscape installations.
